This was my first stop on my trip down to California from Edmonton. I really wish I was able to document more of my travels down; but as I am sure many of us can relate to, it is sometimes difficult to remember to stop and take photos/video when we are riding.
This trip was one of my rewards for graduating culinary school. I remember working all summer saving up for my 2.5 week trip in the middle of September. Even though I had some money saved, I still wanted to do it on the cheaper side, which is why I chose to camp as much as I could. Camping was great, with the exception of the pouring rain I had to deal with almost each day I rode.
My first day of riding to Revelstoke I was greeted with light showers just past Calgary, with heavy rain all through the mountains. Luckily the rain let up a little bit when I got close to Revy so I was able to set up camp and stay reasonably dry.
As far as I remember, the first leg of my trip was fairly uneventful (thankfully). I remember the boring three hour stretch of Highway 2 I had to endure in-between Edmonton and Calgary, heavy traffic after Banff and on the Alberta / B.C. border and the congestion from construction around Golden.
Even though I was off to a wet start, my hopes were high for my first long, solo motorcycle trip and I was ready for whatever the roads were going to throw at me.
